Highlights of 2023 and Looking Forward to 2024

Happy New Year!

The Oakley Home Access Team would like to thank our community partners, clients, and of course our employees for another successful year. As we look forward to 2024, we have a number of exciting announcements to share. In today’s blog we will discuss some of these exciting developments as well as share some of the highlights of 2023.

Two New Oakley Home Access Locations Coming in 2024

Oakley Home Access is Expanding! We are thrilled to announce that we have franchised two Oakley Home Access locations to confidently service all of Rhode IslandConnecticut, and Massachusetts. In the coming months these new locations will be hiring new employees, establishing showrooms and warehouses, and developing new relationships with community partners. These new locations will utilize our proven framework to promote aging in place, accessibility, and fall prevention to their communities.

BestBath Barrier Free Showers

One of the exciting developments of 2023 was the addition of Bestbath barrier free shower installations. These premium shower systems are backed by a 30 year warranty to not only provide immediate accessibility, but many decades of maintenance free use. A barrier free shower is a valuable tool for those utilizing wheelchairs, walkers, and for any client who feels fearful of stepping into the shower due to a mobility impairment. In addition, Bestbath units are one of the finest looking systems on the market, assuring that your investment adds value to your home, as well as to your quality of life. If you or a loved one has been considering a tub removal or shower renovation, schedule a Free Home Safety Assessment to find out what options are available to you.

2023 Community Choice Award

We were honored and fortunate to win Best Home Repair & Remodeling Company in RI in the Providence Journal Community Choice Awards. We could not have done this without  all of our passionate team members, our families for the unwavering support, & our community partners for recognizing us as a valuable resource.

VGM Conference

Our co-owners, Michael and  Justin, had a very productive trip to San Antonio in early autumn for the VGM Group. 2023 Building Opportunities Summit. The three day event was filled with education from industry leaders across the nation; sharing victories, challenges, and solutions across all aspects of the home accessibility and aging in place industry. We were honored to accept the 2023 VGM Member of the Year award for our efforts advocating for funding for home modifications.

Community Events and Inservices

You may have met our team members Cheryl and Melissa at community events in RI and MA where we have our OHA table set up. This year we were able to meet hundreds of community members at events throughout the region!

We are also involved with our healthcare partners and committed to getting the word out about options for those who seek to age in place and for those needing home modifications to stay in their homes. Our inservices and presentations on balance and fall prevention are a critical part of our mission, as well as educating members of local senior centers and councils on aging. Our therapy team loves to meet with clients who are currently mobile in the community, and offer suggestions to keep them at that level of functioning.

Massachusetts Home Modification Grant Progress

If you’ve been following us over the last year or so, we have tried to bring awareness to the Massachusetts Home Modification Grant process to our followers. We are pleased to say that significant progress has been made and it is much closer to being made into a program by Massachusetts State Lawmakers. We thank you for sending letters and emails to your representatives to let them know you support this grant.

Rhode Island State Insurance Billing

Over the past year we have made a lot of progress in our quest to secure insurance funding for our clients. State insurance programs such as Medicaid, Neighborhood Health Plan, and United Health may be eligible for certain services such as ramps, stairlifts, and platform lifts. We have strong protocols in place to help the client navigate this process and determine their eligibility. Every approval is done on a case by case basis, and each case begins with a Free Home Safety Assessment. If you have one of these insurance policies, have one of our assessors come out and we will be glad to guide you in the right direction.

Oakley Home Access has always prided itself on securing every bit of funding we can for our clients. Insurance billing is an ever evolving process, as we are often in uncharted territory. We look forward to further exploring these options for our clients in 2024 and further polishing our abilities to bill for our services.

Happy New Year from the whole Oakley Home Access team! We look forward to working with you in 2024!
