Helping The Aging Population in a Post-Pandemic World

Oakley Home Access has remained true to its commitment to be a community resource during the COVID19 crisis. As we have all navigated the uncertainty of the past few weeks, we have all seen the news that shows how vulnerable the residents of nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and other congregate care settings are when exposed to the novel coronavirus. We are now seeing an easing of restrictions in our social lives, but the risk to the aging and vulnerable populations continues. We know that this is a difficult time for families and loved ones. We want to assure you that as much as we are able, Oakley Home Access is here to help you bring your family members back to their homes to age in place or recover safely.

Many of our clients gain significant peace of mind by experiencing our equipment first hand in one of our two showrooms. With Phase 2 of ReOpening RI underway, Oakley Home Access has officially transitioned back into the Rhode Island office, with precautions. Our Narragansett office is open during business hours, and simply asks that anyone visiting wears a mask (which we can provide) and practices social distancing. Additionally, our Walpole Massachusetts office is open by appointment with the same precautions. If you would like to visit please call 508-269-9227.

We have been working with local nursing facilities and other senior care providers in Rhode Island and Massachusetts throughout this crisis and will continue to do so. Here are just a few of the ways that we can be of service to you.

Free Home Safety Assessment

Oakley Home Access provides our unique perspective to each free home safety assessment. We are able to identify safety concerns and offer minimally invasive solutions to common hazards that contribute to falls or prevent an individual from properly aging in place. During the home assessment, our occupational therapists and aging in place specialists will provide room by room recommendations to maximize mobility and function of the individual client. These recommendations include not only our home modification services, but also advice on how moving furniture or utilizing a new task sequence method can benefit the client.

Recommendation & Installation of Home Safety Equipment

In order to provide our clients with the most reliable and functional equipment, we partner with a number of companies who have proven their reliability and ease of use to our clients. Such companies include EZ Access who are industry leaders in Aluminum Modular Ramps and Vertical Platform Lifts. For our clients who require stairlifts, we offer Brooks and Handicare Lifts which have proven themselves over and over again to be reliable, affordable, and on the forefront of the newest technology. Throughout the rest of the home we offer a myriad of equipment made by CleanCut, Moen, Stander, Healthcraft, & more.

Rental Programs for Those Needing Temporary Ramps

If you have a loved one that needs to rehabilitate at home, our Ramp Rental program might be the perfect solution to take care of a temporary need. Our aluminum rental ramps are modular, allowing us to customize the ramp for your home with the promise that when you no longer need it, we can pull it out like it was never there. These ramps are kept in stock to ensure that we can meet the needs of our clients who are discharged unexpectedly or earlier than anticipated. These ramp systems are installed in one visit and can stay in place for a month or for a lifetime! All rental programs offer an option to convert to a purchase at any time if a client decides they’d like to keep it.

Safety Precautions and Continued Social Distancing As We Work

As healthcare professionals, we take precautions to ensure the safety of both our clients and our staff. Our free home safety assessments are now being done with personal protective equipment (PPE). Any item that leaves the Oakley Home Access Safety Center has been sterilized to ensure there is no cross contamination between homes. This includes our vans, tools, and equipment. We are also monitoring our valued employees and any who show signs or symptoms of being sick will be required to stay home. We continue to offer virtual home safety assessments where our occupational therapists and CAPS certified staff can go through your home via FaceTime, Zoom, or photographs if requested. These virtual visits allow us to get all pertinent information in order to arrange for our technicians to make one visit for installation in even the most sensitive situations.

Oakley Home Access will continue to be your community resource as we navigate the future and the changes that this pandemic has precipitated. Our promise is to be there for you and your loved ones each step of the way, now & always.
